Steele Hollow Vintage CollectionsSteele Hollow Vintage presents … Vintage Collections!

Every other week, I present for sale in my Etsy shop a “collection” of items selected around a theme. It may coincide with a holiday or a season, or represent a color or a print.  Or, it could be something original that I dreamed up for fun or to capture a mood. You will also find the latest collection here as a post, composed of imagery, more detailed information, and stories of discovery.

If you love the listings you see and would like the first peek at my newest collection, I invite you to become a Steele Hollow Vintage VIP. Preview the collection, get first dibs on buying, and enjoy discounts and special offers. Learn more about becoming a VIP here!

Hi! I’m Shelley, the gal behind Steele Hollow Vintage.
Welcome to my story!

Sometime in the mid 80’s I watched the movie Pretty in Pink. I had already started poking around thrift shops and vintage stores, digging around in my Nana’s closets and jewelry box, and redecorating my bedroom with antique bedspreads and crocheted dresser runners. But when I saw Andy Walsh, played by Molly Ringwald in that movie, I thought she was the coolest chick on earth! And so began my love affair with vintage.

Fast-forward to 1995: I decided to put into action the philosophy I so believe in, “Do what you love, love what you do.” I opened my vintage clothing shop, The Rag and Bone, in State College – home to Penn State University in the heart of Pennsylvania.

After an adventurous and educational 17 years at The Rag and Bone, it was time for a change. I closed my brick-and-mortar shop, moved to Etsy, and now sell under the name Steele Hollow Vintage.
I work out of my 1830’s farmhouse on Steele Hollow Road, which I share with my awesome husband, Doug, our spirited daughter, Rose, our sweet dog, Samson, and our two lazy cats, Willie and Pearl.

I have loved being surrounded by beautiful old things all my life and am very grateful to say “dealing in vintage” is my job, but it’s much more than that to me. I’m able to be creative, curious, and observant in my work, as well as make connections with like-minded people all over the world. I’m excited to  share with you the vintage treasures I discover and hear about your own passion for vintage, too.

Thank you for reading my story of vintage discovery!

Shelley

Shelley,
To my awesome daughter-in-law, I truly enjoyed reading and reliving your journey with the vintage life. While I am familiar with many of the events, some were new or expanded on from what I already knew. It’s been a pleasure to watch your business evolve and grow. I remember that first tour of the house shortly after purchasing it; you were both so excited and eager to begin working . It needed everything especially heat!

The website looks great and reads so well! My best in this latest adventure. Love, Sue

Thank you so very much for your sweet comment Sue! I’m excited to dive into this newest facet of my business, even though it feels less like business and more like fun!
